Patrick O'Keeffe (Fat Chef Catering Ltd.) faces  €5,000 in court fines plus significant legal costs after his appeal against a conviction for employing a Nigerian lapdancer, Charity Ajayioba (stage name Pamela),  without a work permit was dismissed. General manager Danny Kenny and asst. manager Michael Clark also convicted.  Each fined €150.  Ajayioba had worked in Dublin, Limerick and Cork before coming to Galway.  She had operated on a circuit which included traveling to the UK and Europe.

Ruhama objecting to licence, claiming that the opening of the new lap-dancing club could be a breeding ground for prostitution, sex trafficking and other crime. Ruhama has dealt with more than 100 women who have been trafficked into Ireland to work in the sex industry. The group has also spoken to women who became involved in prostitution after working in lap-dancing clubs.
